- The descendants said that the dialog presents a wrong image of the Peshwa among people unknown to Maratha history.
- The film makers were also accused of stealing the story earlier.
Director Ashutosh Gowariker’s film ‘Panipat’ has come into controversy a week before its release. A descendant of Peshwa Bajirao has lodged a strong objection to the dialogue ‘I have heard that Peshwa goes on a solo drive when a Mastani accompanies’, spoken by actress Kriti Senan.
According to an English news website report, Nawabzada Shadab Ali Bahadur, an eighth generation descendant of the Peshwa, has sent a notice to the film’s producers Sunita Gowariker, Rohit Shelatkar and director Ashutosh Gowariker, disputing the dialogue and demanding its removal from the film. .
‘Mastani was not Peshwa’s other woman’
Nawabzada said in a conversation “The dialogue of the film is disputed and extremely objectionable. The way it is used, it presents a wrong image of not only Mastani Sahiba, but also Peshwa, to the youths ignorant of Maratha history.” Peshwa was Bajirao’s wife, no other woman. “
He adds, “After watching the dialogue portion of the film’s trailer, I sent a notice to the producer and director asking for the necessary changes. If they do not respond, I will go to court against them.”
Makers accused of story theft
Earlier, the film’s makers have also been accused of stealing the story. Maharashtra’s famous litterateur Vishwas Patil has filed a case against Gowariker, producer Rohit Shelatkar and Reliance Entertainment. He is known as Panipatkar due to his famous novel ‘Panipat’, which has 10 Hindi and 41 Marathi editions.
Patil has demanded a compensation of 7 crores
In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, he had said that Rohit Shelatkar’s representative Sanjay Patil had asked him for the rights to the story and said that the film would be inspired by its premise. But later the makers picked up panna by panna dialogues and scenes from Novell. According to Vishwas, his lawyer has demanded a compensation of Rs 7 crore against the makers in the court, accusing him of stealing the story.
